![]() There are characters who mingle with the crowd and interact with you, the band, and the staff. From the minute you step inside you are completely engulfed with "the hotel" story, there's a really nice bar with live music (Jazz) where you start the experience, and that's also where it ends. The show itself is, well, different, I've never been to this kind of a show. We got the tickets with reserved seats, that was really great as you don't have to wait in line and you always have a table to go back to if you need a break. I rarely write reviews but this one is worth the trouble. ![]() If you are a student of Theatre of the Absurd, then by all means do some more research, and go along, you might find something interesting. I’d say most people should give it a miss. It’s clearly a serious production and means well. I’m giving it more than one star out of respect for the enormous effort the company has gone to. But I can’t think of anything to recommend Sleep No More. I waited a week to write this review and talked it over with my partner, because I wanted to be fair. I have zero clue about how this relates to Macbeth. But it wasn’t enough to hold my attention. Eventually we stumbled across some players, and some dancing, strobe lights, physical drama, mystery. And we waited and waited for anything remotely interesting to happen. We looked under the sheets in the hospital ward, tried the water in the bath, and pondered what it all meant. We toyed with the artifacts, stuffed birds, old books and twigs. We knew that Sleep No More was going to be unusual, and we went in with enthusiasm. Fans of surreal, dark theatre may enjoy it and I'm sure plenty did but it wasn't for me. I chose to sit down and rest for a lot of it and was happy when it all ended.only to have to queue for another 20 minutes to retrieve my coat. probably due to all the running up and down stairs. One fellow audience member fell asleep and another fainted. ![]() Once it does occur it can be very good.or just completely dull. But none of it really makes sense.as you really only get to see little bits of the action. At times it feels like you are chasing actors and battling with other 'audience' members to get a view. There are a lot of people in the event with action occuring in random places. Once in, eventually, there is a bit of time to grab a drink.before you are set loose. This event is not cheap.but they take the opportunity to charge you 4dollars for hanging up a coat which seems a bit unnecessary. The bad.had to que for 40 minutes to get in. It’s also encouraged to explore things in your own way and be curious but there really wasn’t anything interesting to find! We thought there’d be secret rooms or hidden doors etc but we didn’t come across anything like that. It’s an immersive experience where you walk around 4/5 levels of the hotel that they strongly recommend you do alone! We started off doing the experience alone but after about 1.5 hours we stumbled upon each other and just decided to do the rest together because we didn’t find it that interesting and to be honest, didn’t know what on earth was going on! The actors and actresses were great and knew what they we’re doing but we just couldn’t follow the plot because they were all over the different levels of the building so in order to follow the story line I think you’d have to follow them all around the hole time! But this is just impossible with the amount of people they cram into the place! ![]() Myself and my husband attended Sleep No More in NY and we were a little disappointed with the whole experience. It seems like a great concept that needs to be made over with an entirely different, more exciting play/story etc (and add words) No one explains anything and there’s nothing worth trying to interpret. Yes, exploring the 5+ story hotel and its dozens of stocked and creepy rooms is fun but…nothing seems to lead to anything or have any meaning or payoff. In another scene, I watched a guy crouch down sssllllooThere truly wasn’t any story to follow -as countless reviews have echoed … In one scene, I literally watched an actor sleep in a bed for roughly 10 minutes. it’s often slow moving -like watching paint dry. ![]() We spent less than 5 minutes there and it we weren’t even into the show (and it was about a $400/couple upcharge)!!Īs you’ve read elsewhere, the show is a mess. The “reserved table” is kind of ‘scammy.’ If you want to see the show and do the experience, you’ll likely hardly use the reserved table. 99% of the show takes place on other rooms and floors (where there are plenty of other FREE places to sit down). Do NOT get the package with the reserved table. ![]()
